This mold was copied from a Maureen Love sculpture, produced by Hagen-Renaker. Breyer used that mold until 1960, but then had to stop production until negotiations with Hagen-Renaker were completed. In 1971, Chris Hess slightly reworked this mold and Breyer was able to re-release it. Changes include the left legs being slightly moved (splayed) out, and the addition of the round Breyer Molding Co Copyright and USA Stamps, and later, some models had a B Stamp, which signifies a different plastic blend was used for the mold (still researching which models). In 2022, a Little Bit size Crystal model was released.

This mold originally had the tail attached to the body. For the Rocking Horse releases in 1985, the mold was retooled with the tail removed and pegs added to the legs to fit into the rockers. Starting with the 1990 releases, a new, almost identical, tail was added back to the mold, but it was no longer attached to the body. This mold originally had a very flat area on the head between the eyes, and a partial forelock that flowed down toward the right. Shortly after the initial release, the mold was retooled to add a more rounded area on the face, and eliminated the right side of the forelock. The new changes are evident on the 1990 releases.
