Lady Roxana: Bay Test

"Bay Lady Roxanna Test Run. Breyer test run models are created to see how a particular color might look on a particular sculpture, or they may be created to test out a painting technique or new colorway. Not all test run models become a final product in the Breyer lineup, and they may vary over time as different painting techniques are developed and tested. Each model has a fixed price and interested members enter a random draw for the ability to purchase the test piece. Sculpted by Rich Rudish as a companion to his fan-favorite Sham, Lady Roxanna (mold #425) is a bit of an unsung hero in Breyer’s Arabian horse lineup. Using her tail as a third point of balance – quite the technical innovation for her time – she prances along the shelf with plenty of personality. Over the years she has seen only a handful of releases, and usually in lighter colors, making this richly-shaded dark bay all the more striking. She has two socks painted freehand along with a masked snip on her muzzle. This piece likely dates to the early 2000s based on the painting technique.

This test run model is in excellent condition overall, with only a few tiny flaws due to handling over the years: a couple of pinpoint rubs on the left hip and barrel. This piece of Breyer history is priced at $1,200 and comes with a certificate of authenticity." www.breyerhorses.com.
