"The first release in the 2025 collection is Cosimo, a Murgese stallion. A rare breed of Baroque horse, the Murgese was developed in southern Italy in the 13th century. Strong and versatile, these hardy horses were prized for use in both agriculture and the military. With their powerful muscling, strong bone, and sturdy hooves, they are dependable under saddle and harness.
Equine artist Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig created this stately new sculpture. While sculpting rare breeds can be challenging, Sarah studied multiple references to pinpoint the breeds’ key traits to inform her sculpture. The result is a fine example of a Murgese stallion in his prime, with a regal head, cresty neck, and powerful body. Cosimo is confident and possesses a rugged beauty that no doubt will carry him far!
Breyer’s talented in-house designers gave Cosimo a realistic sunburnt black coat, covered with unique dapples that were designed by Heather Puleo. His sun-kissed appearance is completed with rich shading and highlights which are brought out by a luxurious glossy finish." www.breyerhorses.com.
