Wind Dancers - Kona 2nd Version

The Wind Dancers models debuted in 2005 by artist Kathleen Moody, and are approximately 4.5"W x3.5"L. They have cloth butterfly wings and represent characters in the Wind Dancers series of books. Kona was released as #100102 from 2005-2008 (see separate record). In 2009-2018, the 2nd version was released as #100111 and had only one set of wings, eye whites instead of the original tricolor eyes, and slightly different coloring. #100111 on the 2018 Retired List.

Kona is black and purple with purple faux hair mane and tail. Like a threatening storm, she can fly in any kind of wind. She is the leader of the herd and stars in the first book "If Wishes Were Horses".

Brisa is coral pink with blonde faux hair mane and tail. She flys in warmer and tropical winds, and stars in the second book "Horse Happy".

Sumatra matches the ocean with a silver blue color and sea-green wings and faux mane and tail. She likes to fly in the thunder and lightning that comes from the monsoons, and stars in the third book "The Horse Must Go On!".

Sirocco is the only colt with a fiery orange gold color and faux mane like the setting sun, and likes to fly on the hot winds of the desert sands. He stars in the fourth book "Horses' Night Out".

These books were written by Sibley Miller and have a rated reading age of 6-9. The books were sold separately from the models. Models released 2005-2008 were sold in a window box, have 2 sets of wings, tricolor eyes, and slight color differences; whereas the models from 2009-2018 were sold on a blister card, have one set of wings, and only eye whites. Both versions came with a 12 page mini story book, which were similar, but not the same. The 2009-2018 models had 2 different hang cards; one from 2009-2012 had a flowers/butterflies and gems design, and the other from 2013-2018 had a purple and pink with swirls design.
