"Second release of the 2023 Premier Collection, Adonis, a historical Lipizzaner stallion. This dramatic, eye-catching piece is Heather Puleo’s second sculpture for the Premier Collection, following Altynai the Akhal-Teke in 2020. Heather also designed his buckskin semi-leopard appaloosa coat, which was inspired by horses in the painting “The Imperial Stud with Lipizzaner Horses” by Johann Georg Hamilton (1672-1737). He is also designed to perfectly accompany another previous Premier release – 2017’s historical Lipizzaner mare and foal, Carina and Selene. The sculpture represents a mature stallion of the Conversano line in his prime, approximately 15 years old. He is performing the courbette, a high-level dressage maneuver where a horse balances on its hind legs while evenly tucking its front legs in the air, then performs a series of jumps forward before allowing the front legs to touch back down. Adonis is specifically in the landing phase of the first jump, and is coiling energy in his hindquarters as he prepares to launch into the air for his next one." www.breyerhorses.com.
