Chestnut varies from a light tan to a dark brownish color, and the mane and tail are a darker almost charcoal color. Released as #84 from 1969-1989. Has the round Breyer Molding Co Copyright Stamp, around 1970 the USA Stamp was added, and some models have a B Stamp, which signifies a different plastic blend was used for the mold. Early models did not have the USA Stamp.
From 1971-1990, this model was available along with the Clydesdale Mare as the Clydesdale Gift Set #8384, and included green felt blankets and a carrying picture box. Early releases had metal fasteners on the blankets, and as seen in the 1979 catalog, after that velcro fasteners were used. In 1990, this set was still available even though the single models were discontinued in 1989.
From around 1971-1972, this model was part of the Showcase Collection as #840.
In 1973, this model was available through JC Penney with the matching Clydesdale Mare. Looks like the mare came with the green felt blanket, not sure if the foal did too.
In 1986, the Clydesdale Mare and Foal with green felt blankets was available through Sears, #49N21062.
