Western Horse: Alabaster

Glossy Alabaster with same color mane and tail and grey hooves. Early models could have black hooves, maybe as a transition from the 'Cream Puff' version. The bridle was all gold and the breast collar had gold studs. This model came with a black snap on saddle with gold accents, and either the O-Link reins or regular chain reins. It's estimated that the O-link reins were discontinued in 1953.

The 'high grommet' version can be seen in the 1954-1958 catalogs and the 1960 catalog shows the 'low grommet' version. Some early models had felt pads that were cut into a shape just larger than the saddle, or they had little felt circles that went behind the grommet. These early high grommets could scratch the models. For more specific details, read Nancy Young's 5th Edition of "Breyer Horses, Riders, & Animals Molds & Models".

The earliest version of the Alabaster Western Horse is referred to as 'Cream Puff' and has an antique stained mane and tail. See separate record.

Besides size, the main difference between the Western Horse and the Western Pony is three studs on the bridle, instead of the four found on the Pony.
