Anamar

"Native to the North Africa region, the Amazigh horse is a breed seeped in history. For centuries, these horses of the region’s Amazigh people have had a tremendous influence on European stock, perhaps rivaled only by the Arabian horse. Their native land has historically seen much activity due to invasions, travelers, and settlements, and all of that movement of people and horses means that several modern breeds, including the Andalusian, Lusitano, and Thoroughbred, can attribute some of their early bloodlines to the Amazigh horse.

Anamar was sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig, and is her third piece for Breyer’s Traditional series lineup. Sarah made sure to capture all of the Amazigh’s special qualities in this piece. His pose is reminiscent of those you’d find in historical paintings as a nod to the breed’s classic appearance and historical influence. On the breed, she shares, “They’re this incredible, unique blend of strength and power with elegance and grace topped off with such flair and spirit, yet such a gentle heart, too.”

Anamar’s finely-detailed coat was designed by artist Heather Puleo, who was also inspired by the sculpture’s timeless appeal. He will be making his first appearance as a striking pearly dapple rose grey, with rich shading and unique dappling to elevate his look even further." www.breyerhorses.com.
