Proud Arabian Stallion: Dapple Grey

Dapple Grey with darker grey mane and tail, 4 stockings with grey hooves, and a bald or light grey face. Many color and dapple variations exist but according to Nancy Young's 5th Edition of "Breyer Horses, Riders, & Animals Molds & Models", the main variations as seen from catalog pictures include: 1972-1975, soft grey with no or few dapples on head and neck, 2 front stockings, and back legs were grey; 1976-1979, same but grey is darker with charcoal grey on knees and hocks and has 4 stockings; 1982-1986 medium grey with dapples on the head and neck, light grey lower legs or 4 stockings; and in 1987-1988, model is a soft medium grey with darker mane, tail, knees and hocks, 4 stockings and no dapples on the head and neck. Model was not pictured in the 1980-1981 catalogs. Obviously all models will not fit into these buckets, but it's interesting to map out factory trends.

Released as dapple grey from 1972-1982, then the black point was available late in 1982-1984, then the regular dapple grey was brought back from 1985-1988. See separate record for the Black Point variation.

In 1977, this model was released through JC Penney with English Tack as #926-6453.
