Grey Appaloosa with black splatter spots, black mane and tail, dark charcoal or black legs, and bald face with grey or pink nose and ears. Early models (estimated 1960-1961) had a 'big blanket' pattern where the white includes the belly and butt. There was a more common 'belly striped' variation found on glossy models (estimated 1961-1967) that had the white blanket wrapping around the belly with a grey butt and hindquarters. The 'small blanket' variation (estimated 1967-1970) was found on both matte and glossy models, and had a smaller blanket where the white is just on the rump and down the back legs. Spots varied in size and amount. The name 'Spot' was dropped by the 1969 catalog. Models were advertised in a matte finish in the later 1968 catalog.
Early 1960, this mold had a round Breyer Stamp (missing the C) on the belly, along with a partial 'Hess' engraved on the inside right leg. Late 1960-1961, the stamp moved to the right hind leg and early versions had a backward C. Around 1961-1962, Hess was removed and the C was now facing down. Around 1970 the USA Stamp was added to the matte models, and the C was now facing upward.
In 1960-1961, this mold had rounded, inward curving ears; 1962-1969 the ears were more pointy with the right ear being very wide. Not sure if this foal had the pointy ears with the thinner right ear, seen around 1971.
From 1968-1970, the touch-ability boxes #39SP were used. Both sizes of the blue ribbon stickers were used.
