Set #P440, Canadian Mountie, included rider with removable hat, saddle and blanket. Same model as #P40.
These Prancer models were usually made from black or dark brown plastic and had a glossy appearance. The four socks were usually painted on and could have black or grey hooves. The face usually has a stenciled blaze that is rounded at the bottom, just on top of the nose. The mane and tail were the same color as the body. The breast collar, saddle trim, and bridle were usually gold with brass chain reins. A brown hard plastic English saddle with removable saddle blanket was available with this model. The blanket was usually blue with a yellow border.
There were two variations to the Canadian Mountie. One, termed 'Howdy Doody' by collectors, has more of a comical face, is slightly smaller, and has no molded hair details. The other, termed 'Handsome' by collectors, has more of a normal face with forehead wrinkles and molded on hair texture. Paint jobs varied, but typically, they would have dark brown or black hair, blue eyes with eye whites, grey or brown gloves, red jacket, blue or black pants with a yellow stripe, and a removable grey or brown hat that came with a fabric black and silver hatband. The Canadian Mountie was only released on the Black/Brown and White Prancers. Sculpted by Chris Hess. Models with fewer painted details tended to be later in the run.
Model, Mounties and saddle have no mold marks or Copyright Stamps.
