Donkey

Color varies from light and dark grey to a light and dark brownish grey or bay, and a ‘battleship’ grey (mostly unpainted grey plastic). This model can have a variety of stockings, grey hooves and a solid or bald face. Some models have a dorsal stripe. The JAH article mentions this model appeared around 1956, which was also an election year, and could have been released, perhaps at the same time as the elephant, as election memorabilia. The first appearance in a catalog was 1958.

In 1958-1959, this model was released with removable red plastic baskets as #82. These models tended to be made from grey plastic with just the mane and tail tuft painted black. Only a couple known to exist with collectors.

Specifically in 1972, Miller Stockman was selling this model with optional prospector's pack saddle.

In 1976, this model was released in a special box for Election year, but was not advertised in the 1976 catalog.
