This model was released through Bentley Sales, and possibly Mission Supply House in 1979-1980. Dapple grey with dapples on the head and neck, four stockings with grey or pink hooves, bald face with pinking on the nose and in the ears, and gold mane and tail ribbons. Most models were matte or semi-glossy, though glossy models also exist. The only difference between these glossy models and the regular run (muscle version) from 1961-1967 is the addition of the USA Stamp. Both the glossy and matte models were heavily dappled, and the semi-gloss version had more sparse dappling and a light grey tinge to the stockings and face. An estimated 355-710 models made.
In 1984, as Breyer was leaving Chicago for NJ, an estimated 100 models were sold by Caauwe Sales in Nebraska. These models have the exact same color, pattern and ribbon color. The dapples also appear to have the same wild range of variations, though most, if not all, models were matte or semi-glossy. It's possible these 100 models were leftover models from the initial run, and were being cleared out for the move.
Side note: Model pictured with the box, I thought was the original glossy dapple grey, until I realized it had the USA Stamp. This model was released in the same boxes from the 1960's, however it does not have the model number and name stamped on it, just a handwritten #82. Also, the model was wrapped in a plastic bag, as seen with the 1970's boxes, instead of the tissue paper from the 1960's. I'm speculating that models released by retailers such as Bentleys had such boxes as overstock for various runs, and Bentley also used #82 to designate this special run.
