Walter Farley’s Black Stallion - Racing Set with Alec and Book

The Black Stallion Race Set included Jockey, Alec Ramsey with silks, Black Stallion model with the purple #3 Race Tack #2385 set and book, "The Black Stallion" by Walter Farley. Some sets, maybe all, included a separate outfit for Alec. This Racing Set was available as a regular run and shown in the Breyer catalogs from 1982-1985.

In 1981-82, available through JC Penny as set #926-8707, horse alone #926-8715, and only for 1981 Jockey with Racing Silks sold separately #926-8723. This catalog has 'Alex' instead of 'Alec'.

In 1981, available through Montgomery Ward as set #48T24810, and horse alone #48T24807. 1982 only released the set #48G24810.

In 1981, available through Sears as set #49C21037, horse alone #49C21038. Catalog photo shows a blanket with #4, ongoing research if that was an actual release, or just a prototype. In 1982, set #49N21037, and horse alone #49N21038. 1982 catalog shows a #3 blanket. In 1986, just the single model was released through Sears as #49N21065.

For model horse shows, showing as a special run may need to include having the original boxes from JCP, Sears or MW.

Side note: Please forgive the lack of 'performance' conformation on the tack setup! Poor Alec was falling apart, and all the leather on the tack was so brittle it just crumbled. At least the Black was patient with me! :-)
