Thiarnain

"Thiarnain (pronounced keer-nan) is a 15-year-old part-bred Vanner mare owned by Kimberley S. of Michigan. As she battled ovarian cancer, Kimberley was unable to ride her horses, including Thiarnain, and was only able to drive with a harness and cart. She entrusted her nieces with the mare and together they trained her to become a valuable part of their equestrian team, even making it to their state finals. Thiarnain has since become a multi-state grand champion thanks to their hard work.

Kimberley’s health has seen recent improvements, and her dream finally came true – she was able to ride Thiarnain! Since then, she has been in the saddle nearly every single day enjoying this special mare. “I was nervous for our first ride, but she stood like a statue at the mounting block. Once I was finally up I knew I was ‘home’ with her,” Kimberley said in her essay. “Our journey together reminds me that no matter how tough things get, it’s never too late to dream. Thiarnain and my nieces have shown me that love and perseverance can overcome any challenge.” Runner-up winner of the “Why My Favorite Horse Would Love to Be a Breyer Model” essay contest." www.breyerhorses.com.
