Quadriga

"A Quadriga is a chariot drawn by four horses harnessed side by side. This configuration was popular for chariot racing during Classical Antiquity and in the Roman Empire. These chariot races would be held in large Hippodromes around the Roman Empire, the most famous of which was the Circus Maximus in Rome. The image of a quadriga can be found in artwork on vases, friezes, and as statues on bridges or arches. Well known artistic representations of quadrigas around the world can be found atop the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and atop the Wellington Arch in London.

Our Quadriga, this year’s BreyerFest Saturday raffle model, pays homage to these fiery, spirited horses that would race their chariots around the course, driving to victory! Done on the Mustang Stallion (mold #801), sculpted by Rayvin Maddock, this handsome boy has been done as a beautiful Buckskin Frame Overo. He is one of 25 pieces that will be raffled off during BreyerFest weekend." www.breyerhorses.com. One model was auctioned (assuming quantity is 26).
