Winners Choice: Gold Standard - Licorice

"Licorice: Thoroughbred stallion in trotting pose. Black dapple with no markings. Hunter style braided mane and forelock and wrapped tail. New sculpted extra flying free mane, split to each side forelock and flagged tail. Came with a white felt saddle blanket, real black leather hunt saddle and snaffle bridle. Named for Gail Good's favorite treat of the same color!" Quoted by Candace Liddy, Sculptor and Artist.

Special Edition models came in different colors, and real leather bridles and saddles. They were sold with all the manes and tails in small plastic bags and in plain white cardboard boxes. The name of each horse was written by hand on each box. Some of the extra manes were redesigned just for these Special Edition horses. Production had stopped at 200 horses, so 200 or less of each model was made. The leather English saddles were designed by Sue Rowe. The first 30 models debuted at BreyerFest 1998, and came with a COA and were hand signed and numbered by Candace.

The Creata Winners Choice Gold Standard Horses were in production from 1998-2000. They were designed by Candace Liddy and distributed by John Lindsey and Gail Good from The Horse Collector, Ltd. There were 4 models created for Mass Market stores (such as Target, Sears, ToysRUs and Walmart), and 6 models created for Special Market stores.

Breyer/Reeves International purchased the Winners Choice Micro models in 2004, and rebranded them as Mini Whinnies. The Winners Choice Gold Standard models were retired in 2000 and not purchased by Breyer, but added to this site as an added reference for Winners Choice models.
