Gold Misty and Stormy

"Offered for your consideration is a pair of Breyer test color models created in response to ongoing fundraising efforts to save Chincoteague, Virginia’s Beebe Ranch, the ancestral home of Misty of Chincoteague and the Beebe family.

First published in 1947, Marguerite Henry’s beloved children’s novel Misty of Chincoteague has captivated generations of horse lovers. What some may not know is that the novel, while fictional, was inspired by the real-life Beebe family of Chincoteague, Virginia, from whom Marguerite purchased the real Misty from as a weanling. A decade later, Misty returned to the Beebe Ranch to live out the rest of her days, and her descendants still live on the property today. Breyer first introduced a model of Misty in 1972, and her foal Stormy followed shortly after in 1977.

This special Misty and Stormy test run set (molds #20 and #19) is decorated as gold versions of their traditional pinto colorways with a high gloss finish, created by the talented artisans at Breyer's New Jersey facility. A certificate of authenticity is included.

Proceeds of the sale from this set will be donated to the Museum of Chincoteague Island, the organization in charge of fundraising efforts to save the Beebe Ranch. If fundraising is successful, the Museum plans to incorporate the Ranch into the Museum of Chincoteague Island and preserve it for generations to come. You can find more information about these ongoing efforts on the Museum’s official website." www.breyerhorses.com via eBay.
