"Each year the Breyer Stablemates Club introduces a brand-new sculpture, and we’re excited to reveal our new addition for 2022! Meet Kit, a sporty Haflinger stallion who is the 6th and final release of the 2022 Breyer Stablemates Club. The Haflinger is a very popular small horse breed that originated in Austria and its surrounding regions. Strong and hardy, they are an easy breed to ride and train for a variety of tasks. Haflinger horses tend to fall into one of two categories: shorter and stockier, ideal for draft work, and taller and lighter, ideal for pleasure riding and under-saddle competition. Kit is inspired by the latter type. Kit was sculpted and designed by Dutch artist Josine Vingerling, who was also the artist behind one of our most beloved Stablemates Club releases to date: Django the Friesian Sporthorse! Haflingers are a breed near and dear to Josine – Kit took heavy inspiration from her own Haflinger named Apollo. Josine explained, “he is standing square to show his strength and balance, his head is turned slightly to the left, ears pricked forward. He has a cute face with a sweet and relaxed expression.” After sculpting his body digitally, she then went in and added his fine details and windblown mane and tail by hand with epoxy before casting the final sculpture in resin.
In addition to sculpting Kit, Josine also designed his unique take on the Haflinger’s iconic flaxen chestnut coat color. Kit is ready to make a statement in the show ring with his decorative hunt clip, which includes a cluster of stars over his hindquarters." www.breyerhorses.com.
