Bay with red and white bobs and red tail ribbon, no black on the legs, and 4 stockings with pink hooves. This version was released with the muscle detail, and all models were matte or a shiny semi-gloss finish. An uncommon variation is grey hooves.
In 1978, this model was released through Sears, and in 1979, this model was mistakingly pictured in the 1979 JCP Catalog, however it was the Clydesdale Mare and Foal with blankets that was advertised. From 1970-1972, model was released with the Showcase Collection box #800.
The 1972 box catalog shows a gold bob version of this model, and in 1973, a red bob version is shown. There could, however, be some overlap of when the red bob version was actually in production. The model pictured with the white box could have easily been made prior to 1973 and the box was just overstock as the 1970 boxes began around 1972 (model has a USA Stamp). There are other collectors that have mentioned getting a red/white bob model as early as 1972, and some very early models do not have a USA Stamp, which would date them closer to 1970 (or older unused molds were just painted this color). Some models also have a B Stamp, which signifies a different plastic blend was used for the mold.
From 1987-1989, this same model received an updated look with stenciled socks and blaze. See other record for this version.
