This is the #43 Palomino Western Pony with Cowboy. (See record #43 for model details). Set #343 'Cowboy & Pinto' (but included the Palomino model) came with Cowboy rider, a brown hard plastic cinch-less Western saddle with tapaderos, rifle, 2 handguns and a removable cowboy hat. The guns and hat can be found in several shades of brown (as seen in the photos) with the grey color being less common. Production dates are estimated 1954-1957, but could have been as early as 1953. First advertising of this set is seen in the 1954-1955 catalog.
Set #343 was also released as 'The Lucky Ranger Set' and is estimated around the same timeframe or until around 1957, but is not advertised in the catalogs.
The Lucky Ranger and Cowboy are the same molds, have the same 'Howdy Doody' style face, and have dark brown hair, eyes and eyebrows with red lips. The Lucky Ranger wears a light tan jacket with gold fringe, white shirt, turquoise neckerchief and dark brown chaps (the 1958-59 release has a red neckerchief and bare white plastic shirt). The Cowboy wears a buckskin jacket with unpainted fringe, turquoise shirt, red neckerchief and dark brown chaps. They are sculpted by Chris Hess, and have no mold marks or Copyright Stamps.
The original picture box shows the Prancing Pony with Cowboy rider. This box was used for both the Western Pony and Prancing Pony.

Please note: The first photos by www.BreyerHorseRef.com show the model with the newer accessories and a cinch saddle. These are currently inaccurate and will be fixed as I get better photos.
