Per Nancy Young's 5th Edition of "Breyer Horses, Riders, & Animals Molds & Models", "[Peter] Stone noted that these horses are made of a type of ABS plastic that can be electroplated, unlike Breyer's usual cellulose acetate. A company called B&P Electroplating plated the horses for Breyer...The models were packaged in metallic-silver colored cardboard boxes containing purple-flocked molded inserts to cradle the horses. These Saddlebreds were not sold but given away as promotional items to Breyer's customers."
