Proud Arabian Foal: Dapple Grey

Dapple Grey with darker grey mane and tail, 4 stockings with grey hooves, and a bald or light grey face. Many color and dapple variations but according to Nancy Young's 5th Edition of "Breyer Horses, Riders, & Animals Molds & Models", the main variations as seen from catalog pictures include: 1973-1979, dark/medium grey body, mane, tail, knees and hocks with no or few dapples on head and neck, 2 front stockings, and 1-2 vague back stockings; 1982-1986, medium grey with dapples on head and neck and 4 vague stockings, and in 1987-88 model has a soft medium grey color with no dapples on head and upper neck, darker mane, tail, knees and hocks and has 4 stockings. Model was not pictured in the 1980-1981 catalogs. Obviously all models will not fit into these buckets, but it's interesting to map out factory trends.

Released as dapple grey from 1973-1982, then the black point was available 1983-1984, then the regular dapple grey was brought back from 1985-1988. See separate record for the Black Point variation. Keep in mind the black point variation is noticeably black, whereas many older models have dark charcoal colored mane, tail and legs. They look similar to the black point variation, but are actually just dark grey variations.
