Stud Spider Appaloosa Stallion

Black blanket appaloosa with either a front right sock, four socks, two socks or no socks. In 1977, this model was advertised as Stud Spider #66 and from 1985-1989 just referred to as Appaloosa #66. The white picture box from 1978 timeframe is very difficult to find.

From 1978-1983, model was released in the Stud Spider Gift Set #3080 with the paperback book "Let's Go to the Races with the Appaloosa" by Jim Brolin.

That same set was actually available through JC Penney in 1977, and included leg wraps for the model. However, the model pictured in the catalog was a test model of the Appaloosa Performance Horse with a slightly different pattern, JCP #926-6446. The regular Stud Spider model was included in 1978 marketing items.

In 1978-1979, this model was available through Sears as the Appaloosa Stallion with Western Tack. Sold as a single model #49N2186 or with Western tack #49N2184. In 1983 it was sold only with the Western tack as #49C20120 through Sears.

In 1981, this model was available through Sears as Stud Spider with Racing Saddle and Book #49C21034. The set included the book, "Let’s Go to the Races with the Appaloosa" by Jim Brolin, a leather racing saddle, leather bridle, and saddle pad with elastic girth.
