Black with bald face or with a star, and four socks with black or grey hooves. Uncommon variations are an all black face and all black legs or star with all black legs. Some all black models were made with colored plastic (during the 1970's oil crisis), and some of these models will have unpainted grey socks showing off their grey plastic. Early models had eye whites (most eye whites had ended by 1969). In 1970-1972, model was available in the Showcase Collection boxes as #480.
Has the round Breyer Molding Co Copyright Stamp, and around 1970, the USA Stamp was added. Ongoing research if this model ever had the B Stamp.
The star version first appeared in the 1976 catalog; however, it could have been produced earlier than that, along with the Bay Morgan with Star that appeared around 1971. It would be interesting to find a Star version without the USA stamp or with eye whites.
