Davy Crockett

On the 2001 Retired List. This is a reissue of the Davy Crockett set from 1955-1956. Originally he was released on the black Prancer, but this release has him on the Western Pony for the first time. The brown plastic cavalry style saddle appears to be the same as the original set. This saddle has molded on saddle blanket and bedroll, with a pull-through cinch. The Davy Crockett rider is sculpted by Chris Hess, and has an updated, detailed paint job, with more facial details, and both Davy and his coonskin hat are made from a heavier (yet fragile) resin material (the original was plastic). He is also released with a metal rifle 'Old Betsy' (the original rifle was plastic). The catalog photo is pictured with a knife, but it was not included in this set.

Photos with the Prairie scene background and the coon hat with gun are provided by Sande Schneider.
